This is a demonstration website. The practice shown here does not exist. The dentist, credentials, address and phone number are fictional, no dental services are offered, and no appointment can be booked.

Our Philosophy

The smile should be seen. Never the dentistry.

Clario was founded on a quiet conviction: the most beautiful result is the one no one can trace back to a dental chair. Three principles follow from it, and between them they explain most of what we do and rather a lot of what we decline to do.

The Test

Principles are only worth stating if they rule something out.

I

Design before dentistry

Every case begins as a design question, not a procedure. We study proportion, lip line and the character of your face first; the clinical work simply serves the picture.

A tooth is never assessed on its own. Its width relative to its neighbour, where the edge sits against the lower lip when you speak, how much of it shows when you smile without thinking about it — these decide whether a result looks composed or merely white. None of them are visible on a single close-up photograph of a tooth.

So the first appointment is largely looking and listening. We photograph the smile in motion as well as at rest, because a smile that only works when held still is not a smile anyone lives in. The treatment that follows is downstream of that study, and it is why two people asking for the same thing often leave with different plans.

II

Conservative by conviction

We remove as little natural tooth as the result allows. Minimally prepared veneers and additive techniques protect what is yours for the decades ahead.

Enamel does not grow back. Every fraction of a millimetre removed is removed permanently, and a smile designed at thirty has to still be serviceable at seventy. That constraint sits behind every decision here, and it occasionally makes us the less enthusiastic option in the room.

In practice it means preferring addition to subtraction: bonding rather than reduction where bonding will do, alignment rather than ceramic where the real problem is position, and whitening first where tone is the actual complaint. It also means saying so when the honest answer is that the smile in front of us does not need very much at all.

III

Made to disappear

Shade, translucency and texture are tuned by hand alongside our master ceramist, so the finished smile catches light and reads as nothing but you.

Natural enamel is not one colour and it is not flat. It is more translucent at the edge than at the gum, it carries faint surface texture that scatters light, and no two adjacent teeth are identical. Work that ignores any of this is legible as work from across a room, regardless of how well it was executed.

Which is why the ceramist is part of the design conversation rather than a supplier at the end of it. Shade is built in layers rather than selected from a tab, texture is placed rather than polished away, and the target is not brightness but believability. The compliment we are aiming for is the one where nobody mentions your teeth at all.

In Practice

What a conviction costs you

So here is what these rule out, plainly.

Work is not compressed to suit a date; where a stage needs settling time it gets it. Shade is not pushed past what the rest of your face supports, however tempting the brighter option looks under studio lighting.

And a plan is not enlarged because a larger one is available. If four teeth are the answer, four teeth are what we suggest, even where eight would be the easier symmetry to achieve. Occasionally the honest recommendation is that nothing needs doing yet, and that has to remain an outcome the studio is willing to reach.

None of this is a temperament; it is a sequence. The method is where these convictions stop being opinions and become the order in which the work is actually done.
